What is the Best Time to Water my Lawn? 

The Answer:  The very early morning.

The Reason:  Evaporation.  During the hot Summer months temperatures can reach over 100 degrees in Santa Clarita, CA and in the surrounding areas.  If you program your sprinkler controller for a mid-day watering schedule the water will evaporate so quickly from the surface before it reaches the root system of the turf or the plants.  If you program your sprinkler controller in the evening the evaporation process is too slow and this can cause the water to sit too long and create soggy areas of pooling water that can damage your grass with fungus.  By setting your sprinkler timer for very early morning watering; the evaporation process will not be too fast or slow and the water will reach the root system nourishing your thirsty grass.
